PUBLIC MEETINGS

April 2005 -
Dear Friends of the Forest:
The Santa Clara/ Mojave Rivers Ranger District (SCMRRD) of the Angeles National Forest
(ANF) is requesting your comments on the following proposed projects for the Littlerock
Recreation Area in Littlerock, CA:
  1. Reopening of the Little flock creek Road, Alimony Truck Trail, and Alimony QHV Trail for multi-use travel (foot, bicycle, equine, motor vehicle).
  2. Relocating Alimony Trail access from the Littlerock Reservoir out of the critical habitat area for the southwestern arroyo toad.
  3. Constructing two multi-use bridges over Little flock Creek at the Alimony Road junction.
  4. Installing horizontal wells for stock watering along this route.
  5. Erecting fences at the bridge crossings and between the LEttle Rock Creek Road and the Little Rock Creek along the length of the critical habitat.
  6. Consider operating Rocky Point and Sage Picnic areas as overnight campgrounds on a trial basis from mid-May though Mid-September.
  7. Remove facilities at Joshua Tree and Basin campgrounds.

These projects would be modified in response to issues, concerns and funding availability and the final decision on the Angeles National Forest Plan Revision. Formal consultation with U.S Fish and Wildlife Service would be required. We would research alternative-funding sources for these projects though grants and partnerships.

Please send your comments in writing by April 22, 2005 to;

Cid N. Morgan, District Ranger
SCMRRD
30800 Bouquet Canyon Road
